Social issues
Our airports are central transport hubs and locations where companies can establish their business operations. This means that they also have a great social responsibility. We want to live up to this challenge and continue to have a positive effect on the entire region in the long term through our actions.
POINTING THE WAY FORWARD OUR COMPASS
We are passionate about our home region.
Because the heart of Germany is where we are at home. And we are the driving force for an entire region.
We are passionate about being successful.
Because we are the pivotal point in the economy. And we are already about to take off and become the very best in Europe now.
We are passionate about sustainability.
Because we are aiming to have green logistics and CO2 neutrality by 2030. We are growing in a responsible way for you – and even excelling ourselves in this matter.
We are passionate about reliability
Because we handle everything: passengers, aircraft and freight. But we are still far from achieving our full potential.
We are passionate about partnerships.
Because we do everything for the success of our customers. And we give them the perfect setting for this.
We are passionate about our neighbours.
Because we listen, pay attention and tackle issues. And we seek to engage in dialogue with everybody.
We are passionate about Dresden and Leipzig/Halle.
Because this is where people take off on journeys to their dream holiday destinations. And this is where guests and investors from all over the world feel welcome.
We are passionate about the entire crew.
Because our crew consists of more than 1,400 employees – and all of them have their feet on the ground and want to be high-flyers in their particular field.
We are passionate about the future.
Because we are planning great things for the time ahead. And we will fulfil the dream of climate-neutral flight together.
Nothing happens without them: our employees
We are always on the lookout for talented people – because we want to actively shape future mobility. Whether this involves having CO2-neutral airport operations, leading the way for the production of sustainable aviation fuels or becoming the very best in the European air freight sector – we need the best minds for our ambitious goals and projects. We are looking for these qualities in our new employees – a sense of drive, a thirst for knowledge, an openness to other perspectives and an analytical mind.
Communities that are impacted Local communities affected by night flights
Our airports at Dresden and Leipzig/Halle connect Central Germany with numerous tourist destinations, European cities and international hubs. They are the pivotal points for people, products and goods, attractive local centres that act as a magnet for companies and significant economic factors for the development of the region. However, we are also aware that unavoidable noise emissions occur in the areas close to the airports and the expansion of transport infrastructure has many different effects on the surrounding region.
It is therefore even more important for us to have good relations with our neighbours. That is why we, the local communities and the two states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt are actively dedicated to reducing the negative effects on the surrounding region in order to provide some balance between quality of life and airport developments. We also constructively share ideas with the relevant public authorities and institutions, the city administration departments as well as representatives of the local villages and rural districts at all times. We are involved in our local community and deliberately support associations, institutions, events and projects, which promote cultural, sporting, ecological and social diversity in the region.
We pay special attention to maintaining a process of dialogue with all people – regardless of their attitude towards us. We are always ready to receive questions and suggestions from the people living close to both the airports – and provide the opportunity for information and dialogue using a wide variety of analogue and digital channels. Some of these facilities include our website, www.mdf-ag.com, social media – and, at Leipzig/Halle Airport, both the dialogue platform known as www.lej-nachbarn.de and the printed magazine, NACHBAR, which is geared to those living in the direct vicinity and provides information related to the airport. We regularly invite the elected representatives of the surrounding area (mayors, local community and village councils) to Leipzig/Halle Airport to share their ideas (regular meetings for the local area).
We have also been involved in the “Dialogue Forum for Leipzig/Halle Airport”, which was launched and is managed by the city of Leipzig, since 2014. The same applies to the aircraft noise committees, which are appointed according to Section 32b of the German Aviation Act, at both the airports. We look for workable solutions with all those involved when confronted by controversial issues. Our primary focus involves introducing sensible and effective suggestions and having transparent communications at all times.
