The timetable includes an international hub once again: KLM connects Dresden with Amsterdam

Today marks the start of a KLM Royal Dutch Airlines service from Dresden Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol once again. Following the enforced break of more than four months caused by the coronavirus crisis, the Dutch airline is now initially taking off from Dresden five times a week. Six weekly flights are planned in September and a daily service from October onwards.

The airline is using an Embraer 175 KLM Cityhopper aircraft, which provides Europe Business Class and Economy Class seating, including an Economy Comfort Zone. Passengers arriving in Amsterdam from Dresden then have access to the global network of routes operated by KLM and its SkyTeam partners.

Stefan Gumuseli, Germany Director of Air France-KLM:
“We’re delighted that the demand for KLM flights is increasing, thanks to all the measures that we’ve adopted to make everything safe for our passengers and employees. We’re therefore continuing to expand our network of routes in Germany and connect Dresden again with the KLM hub at Amsterdam Schiphol – and with the whole world from there. We’re very happy that we’re able to offer the complete network of KLM routes to Amsterdam from Germany once again.”

Saxony’s Economics and Transport Minister, Martin Dulig:
“The re-launch of this service is a positive signal for business, research and tourism in both countries. The Netherlands is one of the most important tourist markets for the Free State of Saxony. Our economic ties, particularly with the Brabant region, are also becoming increasingly close. During trips to the Netherlands with business people, I’ve sensed on each occasion how much interest there is in cooperating with Saxon companies and research institutes – for example, in the fields of e-mobility and microelectronics or smart city solutions. The direct air link will continue to stimulate cooperation between Saxony and the Netherlands.”

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines included Dresden as its 10th destination in Germany within its timetable on 16 May 2016.

Health protection and travel advice
The Central German Airports have put extensive precautions in place to protect the health of passengers, visitors, partners and employees. The package of measures is based on the requirements of the responsible authorities and follows the recommendations of the German Airports Association (ADV).

The precautions include the installation of perspex screens at check-in counters and boarding pass checkpoints and the provision of disinfectant dispensers throughout the terminals. Passengers are reminded of the distancing and hygiene rules on monitors and signs and in PA announcements. Markings have been installed on floors, for example at security control, to help people keep to the social distancing rules. Seats have also been marked with social distancing stickers.

The wearing of face coverings is compulsory inside all terminals. Most airlines already require passengers to wear face coverings on board. Passengers should check the applicable requirements with their airline before travelling.
