Health protection and travel advice
The Central German Airports have put extensive precautions in place to protect the health of passengers, visitors, partners and employees. The package of measures is based on the requirements of the responsible authorities and follows the recommendations of the German Airports Association (ADV).
The precautions include the installation of perspex screens at check-in counters and boarding pass checkpoints and the provision of disinfectant dispensers throughout the terminals. Passengers are reminded of the distancing and hygiene rules on monitors and signs and in PA announcements. Markings have been installed on floors, for example at security control, to help people keep to the social distancing rules. Seats have also been marked with social distancing stickers.
The wearing of face coverings is compulsory inside all terminals. Most airlines already require passengers to wear face coverings on board. Passengers should check the applicable requirements with their airline before travelling.
More details of the applicable regulations can be found on the airlines’ websites, for example for Condor and Sundair.
Passengers should arrive at the airport at least two-and-a-half hours before departure and use their airline’s online check-in facility wherever possible.
Low-cost parking directly at the airports
Passengers arriving by car can park at the central German airports from as little as €15 a week. There are plenty of parking spaces available.
Cafés, restaurants and shops reopening successively
Shops, cafés and restaurants at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports are increasingly reopening in line with flight timetables. In the public area of Leipzig/Halle Airport, Marché Mövenpick and the Kamps bakery are once again serving food and beverages.
At Dresden Airport, Elbezeit is already open for passengers and visitors, and the airport shop, Gate 14, will be opening on 20 July.
New airport tour for the summer holidays
The new guided tour at Dresden Airport, which starts on 21st July, is called the “NaTour”. Participants will take a bus ride out onto the apron, during which they will find out more about various aspects of environmental protection at the airport, such as how bees are helping to manage the impact of flight operations on the environment, why foxes serve a useful purpose at the airport and what measures we are taking to reduce our CO2 emissions.
