More destinations and more holiday flights: Dresden Airport switches to summer timetable on 25 March

The Dresden Airport summer timetable 2018 features a big increase in tourist flights. Compared with this time last year, the range of flights on offer is increasing by 26%. The airlines will be offering up to 72 holiday flights a week to cities and bathing resorts in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Altogether there will be a choice of non-stop flights to 42 destinations in 18 countries in the summer timetable – a clear increase on 2017 (30 destinations, 13 countries).

Markus Kopp, CEO of Mitteldeutscher Flughafen AG and General Manager of Flughafen Dresden GmbH:

“This summer, our timetable is even more diverse than in previous years. I am delighted that, for the first time, we can offer direct flights from Dresden to Dubai and Bastia. Both of these destinations have never featured on our departure board before. Another new destination is St Petersburg, the Venice of the North, which is twinned with Dresden. Our wide range of tourist flights and good links to the major hub airports make Dresden Airport the ideal departure point for city breaks, holidays and business trips.”

Other new destinations are Barcelona, Athens, Bodrum, Lamezia Terme, Thessaloniki, Monastir, Marsa Alam and Malta. What’s more, the airlines will be connecting the border triangle between Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland to the worldwide flight network several times a day.

Flights to Spain most frequent

There will be up to 23 flights a week to Spain from Dresden. From 1 May, these include three weekly flights to Barcelona with Germania.

Palma de Mallorca, the most popular holiday destination in our 2017 summer timetable, with approximately 50,000 passengers, will once again have the highest number of flights from Dresden in 2018.

Alongside Eurowings and Germania, Small Planet Airlines will also be flying on that route. The three airlines will be departing from Dresden up to 13 times a week.
In second and third places on our leaderboard of popular tourist flights are Greece and Turkey, with up to 15 and 9 flights per week respectively.

Germania with up to 47 departures per week

The airline with the green-and-white aircraft has increased its flight offerings from 18 destinations last summer to 27 this year.
Dresden’s largest leisure airline will be flying to Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Russia, France, Hungary and Croatia. What’s more, Germania is set to station a third Boeing 737 at Dresden Airport from May.
