Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, comments, “The first Vueling flight from Paris to Leipzig/Halle is an encouraging signal for the recovery of passenger services. We’re now seeing a vibrant recovery in scheduled services in line with what’s already been a factor in tourism for some time and we hope for more. The new service between Paris and Leipzig/Halle shows that Vueling believes in the region’s potential, just as we do. We’re optimistic. The issue now involves ensuring that companies and people actually use this attractive service.”

Charlotte Dumesnil, Director of Sales, Distribution and Alliances, Vueling:

"I am delighted to be here for Vueling's first flight between Leipzig and Paris Orly. Vueling's goal is to keep on contributing with the tourism industry, and the choice to add new routes between Germany and France goes precisely in this direction. The desire to travel is still present and we are prepared to offer our customers new popular destinations, for both holidaymakers and business passengers, as well as great value fares for all types of travellers.”

Test facilities at the airport

Passengers have the opportunity of being tested at a Covid-19 test centre operated by Medicorum TAM GmbH at Leipzig/Halle Airport, but have to pay for this service. You can directly arrange the appointments with the company online at: www.coronatest.de or phone +49 (0) 30 120070686.

Protecting people’s health is our top priority

People must wear a medical face mask inside the terminals. Vending machines are available in front of the buildings where people can purchase FFP2 masks.

Protective plastic screens have been installed at the check-in desks and at the boarding card control points. Monitors, signs and announcements remind passengers and visitors to comply with the regulations covering behaviour and hygiene. Markings have also been affixed to the floor to remind people of the current social distancing rules during check-in and security checks, for example. The seats in the terminals also have distance markers.

Passengers must also wear a face mask on board aircraft during flights. They should obtain information about the current regulations from their airline or tour operator in advance. The same applies to the entry requirements in the destination country and the hygiene rules that are in force there.

Information for passengers

In order to be able to start their flight in as relaxed a manner as possible, passengers should arrive at the airport at least 2.5 hours before departure and use the online check-in facilities. The pandemic makes additional formalities necessary during check-in, so that passengers should allow for longer waiting times than normal.

Passengers may only take one item of hand luggage on board.

Returning to Germany

All those returning to Germany from abroad have had to submit to a test since 30 March 2021. All persons wishing to fly to Germany must present a negative Covid-19 test to their airline before departure. They are not allowed to travel without the negative test result. Passengers are therefore requested to obtain information directly from their airline or their tour operator about how the essential Covid-19 tests are conducted before their return flight.

Low-cost parking directly at the airport

Passengers can park their car at Leipzig/Halle Airport at prices starting from EUR 15 per week. This is possible at the P4 car park, if the booking is made online. You can find more information here: www.mdf-ag.com
