Overall, the airlines and tour operators are providing direct flights to 14 different countries. There are new flights from Dresden to London. There is also a non-stop service from Leipzig/Halle to Paris. The winter timetable is valid until 26 March 2022.

Konrad Best, Head of Business Development and Strategy, comments, “The airlines are once again providing a broad range of services to tourist destinations and also flights to several German and European hubs both from Dresden and Leipzig/Halle. This is a gratifying signal for the Central German region.”

Flying from Leipzig/Halle

16 airlines are offering flights to 15 destinations in eight different countries from Leipzig/Halle Airport.

A new feature in the winter timetable:

The Spanish airline, Vueling, will take off for Paris for the first time on 2 November. The scheduled flights to Paris Orly are available twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Non-stop flights to sunshine destinations

Direct flights to three popular sunshine destinations in Egypt are available – to Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm el Sheikh.

There are direct services to the Canary Islands - Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Fuerteventura and Tenerife – from Leipzig/Halle too.

The departure board also includes flights to Heraklion, Palma de Mallorca and Funchal (Madeira).

Six different airlines are offering flights to Antalya from Leipzig/Halle. The popular Turkish holiday destination can therefore be reached on any day.

Connections to international hubs

Three destinations within Germany can be reached directly from Leipzig/Halle. Lufthansa flies to Frankfurt and Munich twice a day, while Eurowings operates services to Düsseldorf eight times a week.

Flights to European cities

The range of flights to European cities includes services to Vienna operated by Austrian Airlines (up to 10 flights per week) and to Paris operated by Vueling (twice a week).

Flying from Dresden

Seven airlines are taking off for 13 destinations in seven different countries from Dresden Airport.

A new feature in the winter timetable:

Ryanair will operate flights to London Stansted from 2 December onwards. The Irish low-cost airline will take off from Dresden on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Sun-seekers have the choice between flights to the Canary Islands – Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Fuerteventura and Tenerife – or to Hurghada in Egypt. The departure board also includes flights to Palma de Mallorca and Antalya.

There will probably be flights to four destinations within Germany. Lufthansa will connect Dresden with the hub at Frankfurt as many as three times a day and operate up to two flights a day to the hub at Munich.

The Lufthansa subsidiary, Eurowings, will link the Dresden region with Düsseldorf (as many as eleven times a week) and Stuttgart (up to six weekly flights).

Connections with European cities

The Saxon state capital is also connected to important European hubs. KLM is offering five weekly flights to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. The Lufthansa subsidiary, Swiss, takes off for Zurich as many as four times a week.

Airlines and tour operators are continually adapting their services because of the pandemic. It is therefore possible that changes will be made to the timetable at short notice.

Information for passengers

Passengers should always take note of the extensive information services and check before starting their journey which entry conditions apply in their holiday area and which rules need to be followed when returning to Germany.

People must wear a medical face mask inside the terminals. There are automatic vending machines in front of the buildings where it is possible to purchase FFP2 masks. Protective plastic screens have been installed at the check-in desks and at the boarding card control points.

Monitors, signs and announcements remind passengers and visitors to comply with the regulations covering behaviour and hygiene. Markings have also been attached to the floor to remind people of the current social distancing rules during check-in and security checks, for example. The seats in the terminals also have distance markers.

Passengers must also wear a face mask on board aircraft during flights. They should obtain information about the current regulations from their airline or tour operator in advance. The same applies to the entry requirements in the destination country and the hygiene rules that are in force there.

In order to be able to start their flight in as relaxed a manner as possible, passengers should arrive at the airport at least 2.5 hours before departure and use the online check-in facilities. The pandemic makes additional formalities necessary during check-in, so that passengers should allow for longer waiting times than normal.

Passengers may only take one item of hand luggage on board.

Test facilities at the airports

Passengers have the opportunity of being tested at Covid-19 test centres operated by private companies at both Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports, but must pay for this service. You can directly arrange the appointments for antigen rapid tests and PCR tests with the provider online.

Returning to Germany

All those returning to Germany from abroad have had to submit to a test since 30 March 2021. All persons wishing to fly to Germany must present a negative Covid-19 test to their airline before departure. They are not allowed to travel without the negative test result. Passengers are therefore requested to obtain information directly from their airline or their tour operator about how the essential Covid-19 tests are conducted before their return flight.

Low-cost parking directly at the airports

Passengers can park their car at the Central German airports at prices starting from EUR 15 per week. This is possible at the P4 car park (Leipzig/Halle) or the P4A car park (Dresden), if the booking is made online. You will find more information at: www.mdf-ag.com
