Hiltrud Werner is the new Chairperson of the Supervisory Board at Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG
The shareholder, Saxony-Anhalt, had earlier sent its two delegates and the general meeting of MFAG had elected Hiltrud Dorothea Werner to the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board then elected Ms Werner, who is the member of the VW Group Management Board for Integrity and Law, as the new chairperson from its members. As a result, she replaces the Saxon State Finance Minister, Hartmut Vorjohann. He had taken over the position on a temporary basis at the end of August. However, Vorjohann remains a member of the Supervisory Board and was elected as one of the three deputy chairpersons. The other deputy chairpersons are Michael Richter, the Finance Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, and Gerd Doepelheuer, the employees’ representative.
Hiltrud Dorothea Werner has been working for Volkswagen since 2016 and was initially the Head of Corporate Auditing. She was appointed as the Management Board Member for Integrity and Law at Volkswagen AG one year later and, among other things, she is head of the compliance and integrity teams, risk management as well as the legal department. Ms Werner is a member of the Supervisory Board at Audi AG, Porsche AG and CARIAD SE, the Group’s software subsidiary.
The manager has held various leadership and supervisory positions in the automobile industry during the course of her career and has gained experience there with regard to all the business procedures at companies as the long-standing head of auditing departments. She was born in Bad Doberan in 1966 and studied at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, where she gained a degree in economics in 1989.
Working with the Supervisory Board and management, Ms Werner plans to contribute her experience to the Supervisory Board and set the course for a successful future at Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, which is an important powerhouse for economic development in the Central German region. “Climate protection and the transformation of the economy and society in the direction of greater sustainability require new and fresh ideas, particularly at the current time. Eastern Germany was and is very close to my heart and being able to take over this task represents a huge vote of confidence for me.”
The Saxon State Minister, Hartmut Vorjohann, comments, “MFAG is crucial to successfully positioning our region in the face of European competition regarding locations and logistics. We’ve gained an absolutely capable chairperson for the Supervisory Board in the form of Hiltrud Dorothea Werner and she’ll bring to this position a great deal of experience from an international setting. I’m very much looking forward to working with her. She’ll always find that the shareholders are reliable partners.”
Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, adds, “The Mitteldeutsche Flughafen corporate group has set itself some ambitious growth targets. We want to resolutely make use of our corporate opportunities – for the benefit of our customers, our employees and the people in the entire region. That’s why we’re grateful for the reliable support from our owners. A constructive dialogue with all the newly elected members of the Supervisory Board will help us achieve success as we work together.”
