Talk by airline expert and entrepreneur Hans Rudolf Wöhrl: “How my dreams learned to fly”
Hans Rudolf Wöhrl has made a name for himself in the industry as a founder, restructurer and seller of airlines. The well-known entrepreneur recently hit the headlines when he expressed an interest in rescuing the airline Germania. Before that, Wöhrl once shaped the development of airlines such as Eurowings, LTU, dba and InterSky.
The aviation expert and entrepreneur has been among the most unusual figures in German economic history for the past fifty years. He built a successful retail chain out of his father’s fashion store and went through some spectacular highs and lows in German commercial aviation.
Hans Rudolf Wöhrl will talk about his experiences in aviation and his newly published biography and will answer questions from the audience at 19:00 on Monday 8 April 2019 at the Dresden Airport conference centre.

Easter Air Experience tours
Find out all about how the airport works on an exciting guided tour of the airport this Easter. After a security check, participants (max. 30 per tour) will head out onto the apron in an apron bus to watch aircraft being dispatched and will learn lots of fascinating and fun facts about the complex goings on and our winter service equipment. The highlight of these tours is a visit to the airport’s fire station with fire engine demonstrations. At the end, every participant will be given a little Easter surprise.

Public Transport Discovery Day
As in previous years, Dresden Airport is one of the event venues for this year’s Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe Discovery Day.
Participants (max. 30 per tour) will enjoy two fascinating hours, including a security check, a bus trip to watch aircraft being handled and a visit to the winter service hangar. The fire service will also be presenting its impressive firefighting equipment, including fire engine demonstrations.

60 years of the 152 – guided tour of the legendary aircraft
More than 60 years ago, on 4 December 1958, aviation history was written in Dresden when Germany’s first ever commercial jet airliner took off on its maiden flight. The last remaining example, a 152 fuselage, is on display at Dresden Airport. Accompanied by a tour guide, visitors can view the legendary aircraft in the western part of the terminal. Under the motto “Hands-on History”, you will step back in time, as this unique exhibit with its cockpit and passenger cabin in its original 1950s décor is open for visitors to explore and photograph.
After the tour of the 152 you will pass through security and take a bus ride out onto the airport apron where you will get to know more about the airport and how aircraft are handled.
After the 90-minute guided tour, coffee and cake will be served at the conference centre (included in the ticket price).

5 May Family Day at Dresden Airport
Aviation is something that fascinates people of all ages. Dresden Airport will be devoting a whole day to this fascination on 5 May. From 10:00 to 18:00, visitors of all ages can expect entertainment, excitement and fascinating facts about aviation: an exhibition with modern and historic aircraft, impressive airport technology, unforgettable sightseeing flights, exciting guided tours, great competitions and lots of fun and games for the whole family.
Numerous associations and partner companies from the Dresden North area will also be exhibiting. Also on display will be the last remaining example of the legendary 152, which was designed and built in Dresden. Visitors will get the chance to see Germany’s first commercial jet aircraft from the outside and the inside.

24 May Blues, Boogie & Swing in the terminal
For the 18th time, Dresden Airport will once again be one of the venues for the International Dixieland Festival. The evening starts at 19:00, doors open 18:15. The warm-up act is the Zenith Brassband (B), who will be performing at 18:30.
Our unique terminal building with its industrial architecture makes a very special setting for this musical extravaganza. This unique atmosphere is one that audiences have grown to love and appreciate. Guests can dance and party late into the night on the visitor platform and on the conference level. Other acts include Sugarpie and the Candymen (IT), The Boogie Woogie Duo, Jazz Connection (NL) and Swingtanz with the Jam Circle Company. Your host for the evening will be Enrico Pohl.
After the event, the Dixie S-Bahn will take concert-goers back to Dresden Central station at 00:30. The usual VVO tickets and prices apply.

High-flyer children’s day
Flyers, handicrafts, airport fun: Dresden Airport offers lots of attractions for children on ‘bridging day’.
It all kicks off with a one-hour mini tour that takes you through the terminal and security out onto the airport apron. During an entertaining bus ride, you’ll get to experience up close how planes are prepared for take-off. The tour also includes a visit to a Mi-2 helicopter.
In addition, there will be several table football tables and a craft area on the Departures level, where children can make and paint their own high-quality paper aeroplanes. Customer Services staff will be on hand to provide instructions and assistance. And for anyone who gets hungry or thirsty in between, a sweet snack buffet will be available.

Fun Days for Kids
To mark International Children’s Day, Dresden Airport is putting on two fun days for 3- to 14-year-olds and their families.
The highlight will be exciting tours with lots of attractions for kids between 09:00 and 18:00. During a 60-minute guided tour of the airport, you will learn all kinds of fascinating facts about how an airport is run.
Before the tour starts, there will be a short briefing at the airport information desk, after which you will go through security and board the apron bus for a tour of the apron with a close-up view of aircraft and handling equipment.
This will be followed by a visit to the airport fire brigade, which is always extremely popular. There you’ll get to see the various firefighting vehicles, including a real Panther with a live demonstration of how it fights fires. The fire brigade will also simulate a domestic fire. The fun days come to a close with knot tying, target spraying and marshmallow grilling.
What’s more, the ever-popular Airport Kids Bag (suitable for all ages) will be on sale for just €10. It includes an A1 fire service poster, a selection of popular and handy airport souvenirs and some sweet surprises.
