Air Experience tours at Easter
30 March to 2 April, 15:30 (120 minutes)
After a security check, participants (max. 30 per tour) will head out onto the apron in an apron bus to watch aircraft being dispatched and will learn lots of fascinating facts about aircraft handling and our winter service equipment. The highlight of these tours is a visit to the airport's fire station with fire engine demonstrations. Afterwards every participant will be given a little Easter surprise.

Experience tours on Public Transport Discovery Day

As in previous years, Dresden Airport is one of the event venues for this year’s Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe Discovery Day. Participants (max. 30 per tour) will enjoy two fascinating hours, including a security check, a bus trip to watch aircraft being handled and a visit to the winter service hangar. The fire service will also be presenting its impressive firefighting equipment, including fire engine demonstrations.

Family Day at Dresden Airport 6 May, 10:00 to 18:00
Visitors will get to experience a whole host of exciting aviation-related events and activities. There will be a historic and modern aircraft display, sightseeing flights and a range of guided tours on which participants can watch aircraft being handled from close up. What's more, the airport fire service will be presenting its impressive Panther 8x8 fire engine: 1,250 hp strong, 140 km/h fast, and weighing in at 44.5 tonnes. Its telescopic boom, or high-reach extendable turret, is an impressive 16 metres long when fully extended.
Businesses including Elbe Flugzeugwerke and the local public transport operator Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe will join tourism partners and associations from North Dresden in presenting their services on Family Day.

Jazz not jet lag! For the 17th time, Dresden Airport will once again be one of the venues for the International Dixieland Festival. Our unusual terminal building with its industrial architecture makes a very special setting for this musical extravaganza, running for the 48th time this year.
This unique atmosphere is one that audiences have grown to love and appreciate. Guests can sing and dance the night away on the visitor platform and on the conference level. Acts include Big Easy Brassband (NL), Certains L'Aiment Chaud (F), the Frank Muschalle Trio and Thomas Stelzer. The event’s MC will be Enrico Pohl.

After the event, the Dixie S-Bahn will take concert-goers back to Dresden Central station. The usual VVO tickets and prices apply.

Off to the airport after school! Our Customer Services department is running an exciting airport tour on International Children’s Day. After a short tour of the terminal and a security check, participants (max. 30 per tour) will head out onto the apron in an apron bus to watch aircraft being handled and all the processes involved between take-off and landing. This will be followed by a visit to the airport fire station.

Fun Days for Kids 2 and 3 June
To mark International Children's Day, Dresden Airport is organising two fun days for 3- to 14-year-olds and their families. The highlight will be a series of exciting tours with lots of attractions for kids between 09:00 and 18:00.
On the 90-minute airport tour, children will find out lots of fascinating facts about flight operations at the airport. The tour starts with an introductory talk at the airport information desk. Then you’ll pass through security and board an apron bus which will take you out onto the tarmac to watch aircraft being handled and the ground support equipment in operation. At the fire station you'll get to see a range of firefighting vehicles, including a real Panther and a demonstration of how it fights fires. The highlight of the tour will be a simulated house fire.
Depending on the weather, this will be followed by various indoor or outdoor activities: face painting, arts and crafts, table football, an exhibition featuring a historic police helicopter and the legendary Baade 152 – the first German passenger jet aircraft – along with lots of other surprises. Refreshments will be available.

On our popular Summer Evening tours, participants (max. 30 per tour) will be given a brief guided tour of the terminal building, after which they will pass through security. Then they will take a bus ride out onto the apron to watch aircraft being handled. No airport tour would be complete without a visit to the fire station, where fire-fighters will present their fire-fighting equipment and the impressive 1250 hp Panther 8x8.

Mini and Maxi tours in Saxony’s summer school holidays (60 and 90 minutes per tour)
Kids bored in the summer holidays? Not at the airport, that’s for sure! As planeloads of holidaymakers head south from Dresden every day, children can now join in the action! An airport guide will take them in an apron bus to watch luggage being loaded into the planes, and if they want they can also head over to the airport fire station.

High Fliers Starting School 11 August, 14:00 to 18:00
On 11 August it’s all systems go at Dresden Airport for the start of the new school year. The first day of school is a very special day, and many parents, family members and friends look for an unusual setting to celebrate this momentous occasion. With its “High Fliers Starting School” day on the second Saturday in August, Dresden Airport fits the bill perfectly.
The event kicks off at 14:00 in the terminal’s LuftRAUM with its panoramic view of the runway. A juice and sparkling wine reception is followed by a sumptuous sweet and savoury snack buffet, including selected hot drinks, orange juice and water. The fun-packed afternoon features face painting, table football and arts and crafts, and every school starter will also be given a small surprise gift. Additional services, such as a customised cake or a sweet table, can be agreed with Customer Services. To round off the afternoon, at 16:30 High Fliers of all ages embark on a 90-minute discovery tour on which you’ll be taken out onto the apron and to the airport fire station, where there will be a demonstration of a fire-fighting vehicle.
